be patient. it will come.

be patient. it will come.

The older generation criticizes us a lot. Much of it is unwarranted and not true.

Of all the unfair criticisms (we’re soft, we’re lazy, etc.) we receive, there is one that’s undoubtedly true:

We’re impatient.

Like, extraordinarily impatient. And it’s only getting worse.

Watch any movie you want? Pull up Netflix.

Order a pizza? Open the GrubHub app.

Buy a new dress? Visit Target’s online store.

Feel good about yourself? Post a thirst trap on Instagram.

We’ve grown up this way. So when things don’t happen for us immediately, we get upset. We get rattled. And we wonder what the holdup is.

This also extends to much bigger ideas, like our goals and dreams. Because 98 percent of the time, it takes years and years of hard work and dedication to build a meaningful career, or find a soulmate, or save up for a house.

Despite knowing this, we still want those things today. Now. Because we’re used to getting what we want, when we want it.

But real life is not like TikTok.

Overnight success is possible, more than it ever has been, but the odds aren’t in our favor.

Rather than berate ourselves about our lack of “progress” and the long journey ahead, lets instead enjoy the ride.

Focus on becoming a better person. Surround yourself with the right people. Do the things you love to do. Make memories.

Live, laugh, love, as the pillows say.

And then one day, when you least expect it, you’ll suddenly find yourself in the spot you dreamt about.

And it will be worth the wait.
